An ex-convict, Yakub Yusuf, 23, has been arrested for stealing and breaking into the state fire service building, hours after he was released from prison.
This was made known in a statement released by the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin on Thursday, 17 November, 2022.
Men of the Rapid Response Squad arrested Yusuf on Saturday morning.
He was released from prison custody on Friday, after a non-governmental organisation paid his fine upon conviction for stealing at the Lagos State fuel dump, Alausa, Ikeja on 1 November, 2022.
On Saturday, Yusuf was arrested again after breaking into Lagos State Fire Service premises.
This time, he stole valve covers of old fire truck under repairs.
The Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Olayinka Egbeyemi has transferred Yusuf to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
