ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Federal High Court in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Monday, nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election held on 26 May, 2022.
The court, however, ordered fresh governorship primary within 14 days.
In his judgment on 14 November, 2022, the presiding judge, Justice Agatha Okeke, disqualified the governorship candidate of the party, Akanimo Udofia, from participating in the primary.
The presiding judge, according to The Punch, stated that Udofia was not a member of the APC in the State.
The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), not to recognize Udofia nor accept him as candidate according to section 77 sub-section 3 of the Electoral Act.
