IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage dropped the video for her latest smash hit single dubbed ‘Loaded’.
In the video which was directed by TG Omori, both Tiwa and Asake displayed high sense of urban fashion which made the project colourful.
The talented actress who featured Asake in the new song revisited her leaked sex video, noting that the scandal cannot ruin her life.
“They planned against me, but sex tape can’t ruin my life,” Tiwa sang in Yoruba.
She proceeded to say, “who never f*ck, hands in the air”.
It appears this song was all she needed to hit back at critics who had tied her down to that one moment in her timeline.
The song was an Afrobeats cocktail of Nigerian alté and an amapiano fusion.
This comes a year after the 42-year-old songstress battled a leak of her sex tape which caused a public uproar.
However, some Nigerians including Daniel Regha are not pleased with the singer’s latest work of art.
Reacting to the newly released single dropped on Monday, Regha described the song as “poor”.
According to him, the song has terrible lyrics and Asake needs to switch-up his musical style because his songs sound alike.
Asake’s verse on “Loaded” ft Tiwa was p¤¤r, (terrib!e lyrics); He also needs to switch-up his musical style cos his songs sound-al!ke. Tiwa c¤uld’ve also done a better job, & using her scanda! as a punchline is awfu!. The song has a dope beat but n¤ lyrical content. No offense.”
Regha’s tweets has garnered reactions on Twitter with some criticizing his comment while other backed him up.
A tweep, @bragosi said: “Unrelated but I can’t imagine the type of banter tiwa son will face.
“Just imagine he want to give his opinion on something and someone says “go rest jhorr you wey your mama s*x tape dey online”
Another tweep, @X6bish said: “Daniel what u will understand is that we Nigerians don’t pay attention to lyrics,we just wanna dance to the sound and feel good”
@Crown_Glory reacted to @X6bish comment about Nigerians not paying attention to lyrics and said: “Some of us still do and that’s part of the reasons I hardly listen to Nigerian artist cos most of their songs actually make no sense to me.”
He later tweeted that he only listened to Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade, others when dragged by tweeps.
“Listen to King Sunny Ade,Obey,Oliver and you will hear good music.”
@jaqulo backed Regha and said: “I knew many people will be insulting this guy but he’s saying the truth because that asake are always sing nonsense.”
@FlexofIjebu called @jaqulo out on his tweet. He tweeted: “Even with ur English , person go don know say ur head go dry.”
Another tweep, Jago wrote: “Asake songs no dey get lyrics… beat they always help am.. but I love him ❤️”
