ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has criticized former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, over his recent statement.
Wike maintained that he would not allow Momodu to use him to gain relevance.
Momodu is the Director of Strategic Communications of PDP’s Presidential Campaign Council and had warned Governor Wike against crossing the line by defaming the party’s flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.
The veteran journalist had urged Wike not to turn the fight for justice and equity into a personal vendetta.
Reacting, Governor Wike lambasted Momodu for opting to be a presidential spokesman after contesting to be the party’s flagbearer.
Wike told journalists in Port-Harcourt, “I have also read where some people said we should not cross the lines. Ordinarily, I should not have responded to this. I read they said it is one Dele Momodu. These are the things I’m talking about. Ask him. When did he join the party?
“When you just want them to recognize you, from presidential aspirant to becoming spokesperson; somebody who wants to rule Nigeria has become a spokesperson of a presidential aspirant.
“I’m not going to be a party to anybody using me to be relevant. If you don’t have a job, say you don’t have any job, I have a job and I will continue to do my job.”
