ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- An elder statesman and First Republic Federal Commissioner for Information, Edwin Clark, on Tuesday, condemned the inability of President Muhammadu Buhari to hand over power before leaving for the United Kingdom for medical treatment.

The elder statesman said, “At 95 years old, my group has seen enough of this country for more than 70 years.

“Nigeria is bleeding and only God knows how much of taxpayers’ money must have been spent by the President on his health.

“It is arrogance for Buhari to think he can govern Nigeria from abroad. He should hand over power to Osinbajo.”

Briefing newsmen in Abuja, Clark asked President Buhari to tell Nigerians the sickness he is suffering from.

He said as the President of the country, he should comply with the Constitution and do the needful in line with global best practices, lamenting that Buhari cannot run Nigeria from abroad.

The former Minister explained that President Buhari should have informed Nigerians about whatever ailment he had been suffering from.

He further explained that the President had been going for medical attention without telling Nigerians the details of his health status, suggesting that the Supreme Court should be approached to seek interpretation.

Clark claimed that Nigeria belongs to all and the country should not be run like a banana state, stressing that the President is taking Nigerians for a ride as he does not have the right to jet out to London without handing over power to the Vice President in line with the constitution.
