LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The National Executive Council of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is set to hold an all-night meeting to call off the lingering industrial action.

The meeting will reportedly hold overnight in Abuja, as the leadership of the union seeks to allow those in charge of the union take the final decision on the protracted strike.

Speaking with a correspondent from The Punch in Abuja, a top source said: “We will have a meeting today and it will last overnight so that we will be given enough time to deliberate and make a conclusion.”

When asked if the union would call off the strike, the source declined comments.

ASUU commenced the industrial action on Monday, 14 February, 2022. The union had accused the Federal Government of failing to honour some of the agreements reached in previous negotiations.
