Actress Tia Mowry has filed for divorce from her husband, Cory Hardrict, who is also an actor, after 14 years of marriage
On Tuesday, the Sister star took to her Instagram to share the news.
“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she captioned a black and white picture of her and Hardrict locking eyes.
“These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
The 44-year-old actress, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split when filing to end their marriage in Los Angeles on Monday, according to divorce documents obtained by DailyMail.
The actress also requested that she and Hardrict, 44, both maintain legal and physical custody of their two children, Cree, 11, and Cairo, 4.
The couple’s official wedding date is listed as 20 April, 2008. However, the date of separation is listed as “TBD.”
As for the couple’s assets, it is noted that there is a premarital agreement in place and “all assets and obligations of each party are her/his separate property.”
She has requested the judge terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to both parties and indicated she and Cory had a prenuptial agreement.
Prior to the announcement, Mowry shared a cryptic message on her Instagram Stories that read, “Letting go can be painful. But, it won’t hurt as much as holding on to an illusion.”
Mowry met Cory, also an actor, on the set of the 2005 film Hollywood Horror. They dated for six years before saying ‘I do’ on 20 April, 2008.
Speaking about their marriage back in 2015, Tia told HuffPost Live that she and Cory ‘don’t put gender roles’ on their marriage.
“We don’t put gender roles on our marriage and our relationship. If I’m working a lot and Cory’s home, he will put Cree to bed, and if dishes need to be washed, he will wash them,” she said. “So it’s not like, “Oh, I’m going to wait until my wife gets home and she’s going to be doing all that.”
