Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu has paid a visit to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde at the Government House in Ibadan.
This comes twenty-four hours after Tinubu’s meeting with Governor Nyesom Wike at the Rivers State government house.
Tinubu was accompanied to the Oyo State Government House by Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi, Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare and other party chieftains.
They visited the State for the presidential rally of the party.
Makinde was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019, and he is seeking another term in office.
He is one of the G-5 governors in PDP who have failed to declare open support for Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate.
The G5 consist of PDP Governors who are at loggerheads with the leadership of the PDP.
Aside from Wike and Makinde, Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) are members of G5.
Meanwhile, when Atiku Abubakar, Presidential Candidate of the PDP, campaigned in Oyo, he did not visit the government house.
Tinubu while speaking on Thursday, said he was in Oyo State to solicit the endorsement of Makinde ahead of the presidential election.
Makinde, in his response, said he would choose unity of the country, equity and fairness over politics.
He, therefore, urged Tinubu to carry on with his campaign.
He added that the people of the state would vote for equity and fairness on 25 February.
