LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has advised candidates to conduct themselves during the examination.
The body reiterates its stand on zero tolerance on examination malpractices.
The examination, which commenced today April 30th, will end on Monday, June 24.
A statement by the Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, Dr. Josiah Dangut, stated that a total of 22,229 schools registered for the examination.
Dangut said that, this year, no fewer than 1.8 million candidates would partake in the examinations with 902,328 males, and 912,016 females, which surpassed the number of candidates in figures, for last year.

The WAEC chief added that National Identification Number (NIN) was made compulsory for each candidates during the course of registration, as this was inline with directive from federal government.
He warned candidates and school authorities against examination malpractice, saying any culprit will be punishable according to the law.
Prior to the commencement day, the examination body has prepared candidates and stakeholders through organised seminars and orientation to narrow down examination fraud.
“Results will be released 45 days after the conduct of the last paper, while certificates will be printed and issued to schools in less than 90 days after the release of results,” he said.
“The digital copies of candidates certificates would be available and access online with results,” he concluded.Â
