LAGOS,Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, has denied any hike in the examination fee.
The Rector, Dr Uche Onyegbu, stated that the purveyors of such a malicious story are enemies of the institution.
After the recent peaceful protest conducted by a group of students earlier this week, the institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr. Chijioke Ibeziako released a statement clarifying that the students’ claim of a N5,000 examination fee being imposed on them is incorrect.
According to Mr. Ibeziako, the fee in question is an old fee that was approved by the former Governing Council of the Polytechnic.

He assured that the current management has prioritized ensuring that the students’ school fees are reasonable and affordable.
He also revealed that the examination fee is part of the cumulative fees that were approved for payment by students per session insisting that Federal Polytechnic Oko is not the only tertiary institution that pays examination fees.
The statement read in part, “The attention of the Management of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, has been drawn to the news story making the rounds on the social media domain and some mainstream media on alleged imposition of examination fee on students by the management.
“The N5,000 examination fee in question is an old fee which was approved by the then governing council and students were informed about it. It is part of the cumulative fees that were approved for payment by students per session.”
