ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos has arrested a driver for negligence after he crammed 15 children into a Volkswagen Passat car.
The police public relations officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed this in a press release on Friday.
According to Hundeyin, concerned citizens reported the incident on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Upon intervention, the police found that the driver, contracted to transport the children to a beach, had locked four of them in the car trunk and crammed 11 others together inside the vehicle.
It read, “Police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have apprehended a driver for cramming 15 children into a Volkswagen Passat car in Lagos.

“The vehicle was reported by concerned citizens on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge at about 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
“Upon intervention, the police noticed that the driver, who had been contracted to transport the children to a beach, had locked four of the children in the car trunk while 11 others were crammed together.”
The police spokesperson said, “Preliminary investigations revealed that one child had collapsed earlier in the day, due to similar transportation conditions, but recovered after receiving medical attention.”
Fortunately, the children have been released to their parents unharmed.
Hundeyin assured that the suspect will be charged to court, while Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade commended residents for promptly alerting authorities to suspicious activities.
