LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Customs Comptroller-General, Bashir Adeniyi, led a top-level delegation to meet the Director-General of Benin Republic’s Customs Administration on Thursday.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) disclosed this via its X official communication handle on Sunday, April 14.
The meeting was to enhance the enduring collaboration between the NCS and its counterpart in the Republic of Benin.
They discussed strategies to enhance trade activities between the two countries and ensure the smooth implementation of previously discussed recommendations from their meeting in Cotonou.
Emphasizing the importance of the collaboration, the CGC stressed the recognition of the established framework for cooperation between the customs administrations of both countries.

He said: āThis framework was established at a higher level by the authorities of the heads of State, President Patrice Talon of Benin and His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria, both expressing a desire to work together. It is upon this foundation that the customs of both countries are united in their effortsā
Adidjatou Hassan Zanouvi, the Director-General of Benin Customs Administration, warmly welcomed the group and reiterated their steadfast commitment to implementing mutually agreed-upon measures.
She also stressed the importance of thorough monitoring to ensure the effective implementation of these measures.
According to her, the collaborative efforts between the two serve as proof of their shared dedication to facilitating smooth trade operations and ensuring the efficient management of cross-border activities for the mutual benefit of both nations.

During the visit, the CGC seized the opportunity to inspect ongoing projects at the Nigeria Customs Service, specifically at the Seme Area Command.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Timi Bomodi, joined the CGC in a thorough assessment of the project’s progress, ensuring diligent oversight and obtaining necessary guarantees from relevant authorities.
