LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Gunmen have abducted the wife and house help of the former Chief of Staff to Benue Governor, Terwase Orbunde, in an incident suspected to involve herdsmen.
Hon. Orbunde, who previously served as Chief of Staff to former Governor Samuel Ortom, resigned to contest the PDP governorship primary.
He later joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) but failed to secure the nomination.
The abduction occurred near the Genocide Cemetery along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the state capital, around 6 pm on Friday.
During the attack, Orbunde sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm, while Mrs. Abigail Kashimana Orbunde and her house help, Patience Ogute, were taken by the assailants.

Orbunde was shot in the right arm, and the women were ordered to follow the attackers to an unknown destination.
The shooting caused villagers and passersby to flee in different directions for safety.
As they moved forward, the former Chief of Staff was reportedly bleeding heavily and struggled to walk.
Eyewitnesses, observing from a distance, recounted that the leader of the group instructed him to leave while the gunmen abducted the women.
