LAGOS,Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Shade Ladipo, a media personality has revived her ongoing conflict with popular Afro-fusion singer, Burna Boy, this time focusing on his approach to African advocacy.
In a recent interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Ladipo expressed her disappointment, claiming that Burna Boy, who often portrays himself as a champion for Africa’s struggles through his music, fails to address important issues affecting the continent.

While praising the consistency of artists like Wizkid and Davido in their dedication to the entertainment industry, Ladipo labeled Burna Boy as “fake” and accused him of exploiting Pan-Africanism as a mere strategy for international branding.
“Let me tell you what I do not like about Burna Boy, he says he is Pan African, and he cares about the issues of Africa. He does that in his music a lot but when issues come up, the boy is silent,” she said.

“Look at Bob Marley, look at Miriam Makeba, look at Fela Anikulapo Kuti, they use their music and they use their voice. So if you want to profit off the issues of Africa, that is okay but that is not being Pan African.
“That is why I am a big fan of Wizkid and Davido, give me ooh yeah yeah yeah. Do not come and tell me you are for Africa and African issues come up, you are mute. So I am sorry he is a fake! He is using Pan Africanism as a way to sell his brand abroad.”
