ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to developmental projects during a recent Town Hall meeting held at the old government lodge, Enugu.
With the theme “Issues of Governance: The Journey So Far,” the gathering drew representatives from various sectors, including Civil Society Organisations, Women, Students, Youths, Business Owners, Traders, Transport Unions, People Living with Disabilities, Professional Associations, and traditional rulers, among others.
Addressing the attendees, governor Mbah clarified that the government had not raised tax rates but had widened the tax net, emphasizing rigorous enforcement of existing tax laws.
He assured the public that the administration would tangibly manifest the outcomes of the meeting, outlining ambitious plans for the state’s advancement.

One notable initiative highlighted by the governor is the ambitious Smart Schools project, slated to be fully operational in all 260 political wards of the state by September 2025.
Under this initiative, pupils across Enugu State will benefit from 12 years of compulsory and free education, complemented by the provision of digital tools such as tablets and desktop computers.
Moreover, plans are underway for the establishment of a cutting-edge center for experiential learning and innovation, aimed at training prospective smart school teachers in advanced fields like Information Communication Systems, Mechatronics, and Augmented and Virtual Reality.
According to Mbah, “Plans are underway for the establishment of a centre for experiential learning and innovation for prospective smart school teachers where they will be trained on Information Communication System, Mechatronics, Augmented and virtual reality”.
Governor Mbah emphasized the transformative potential of Mechatronics systems, enabling teachers to effectively engage with pupils across diverse locations simultaneously.
Highlighting the administration’s commitment to healthcare infrastructure, the governor announced the ongoing construction of Type 2 primary healthcare centers.
These facilities according to him will boast modern amenities, including solar-powered power supplies, to ensure reliable healthcare access for residents.
Additionally, he notes that plans are in place to establish healthcare centers and facilities in markets across the state, prioritizing community health needs.

However, Governor Mbah acknowledged challenges in water supply and issued a stern warning to tanker drivers against sabotaging government efforts in this vital area.
He pledged strict enforcement of the law against any offenders. Furthermore, he assured that individuals who have built or are planning to build on waterways would be held accountable, proposing alternative measures instead of immediate demolitions.
In response to the governor’s address, participants lauded the administration’s achievements thus far, particularly in road infrastructure, water provision, healthcare, security, and education.
However, they urged Governor Mbah to prioritize the full implementation of campaign promises, with a specific focus on poverty eradication and the overall welfare of the populace.
