LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has urged the international community to provide sustainable funding to support Africa’s development strategies, with a focus on women’s economic empowerment and gender equality.
The ministry’s Head of Press and Publicity, Grace Njoku, disclosed this in a statement following the minister’s presentation at the ongoing Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) in New York, United States.

Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to creating economic structures aimed at generating employment opportunities, particularly for women, to advance gender equality and empowerment.
The Nigerian government is steadfast in its determination to achieve the objectives outlined in the session’s theme, which aims to expedite the full and effective implementation of various frameworks for women and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda 2030.
“Nigeria has established economic structures and infrastructure to attract investments and foster job creation, particularly for the youth, including women,” stated Kennedy-Ohanenye.
She highlighted Nigeria’s intensified efforts towards gender equality and meeting the financial needs of women and girls, underscoring the country’s dedication to advancing women’s empowerment and socio-economic inclusion.
