LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The daughter of president Bola Tinubu and Iyaloja-General, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo has urged women to actively contribute to the nation’s development by participating more in politics.
Speaking at the International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration in Akure, the Ondo state capital, Tinubu-Ojo emphasised the importance of women’s involvement in political processes at all levels.
She said, “We must not relent in contributing to the development of our nation. Women play a vital role in building our immediate environment and the nation at large,” she remarked.
The special adviser on gender matters to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Olamide Falana, echoed the call for women’s empowerment and emphasised the need for leaders and government at all levels to prioritise initiatives that support and uplift women.

Falana highlighted the changing landscape for women, noting a decline in challenges such as gender-based violence, workplace discrimination, and disenfranchisement.
She emphasised the diverse roles women play in society as leaders, managers, and advocates.
“It is time for women to take centre stage and excel. We must empower our young girls to become future leaders and agents of change,” Falana asserted.
Encouraging unwavering support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s initiatives aimed at improving the lives of women, Falana commended the governor’s commitment to empowerment, employment creation, and security for women in Ondo State.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, underscored the importance of investing in women to drive positive change, emphasising the theme of this year’s IWD as a call to action for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
