LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Popular comedienne and content creator, Anita Osuoha has highlighted the challenges female entertainers face in the industry.
She claimed that women in the entertainment industry are consistently subjected to discrimination.
Speaking in an interview with The Punch, she said, “A female entertainer would always face discrimination, regardless of how much awareness is done. One just has to live with it. There are some people that would always say one is not supposed to be doing what one is doing. Many times, when I make a post on social media, people give different opinions.

Some would say a woman should not act the way I do or, while some would say I talk too loudly. However, I have learnt to live with things like that, because if one wants fame, one has to take everything that comes with it.”
Furthermore, she expressed that while the presence of numerous women in the entertainment industry is commendable, there remains ample room for improvement.
“It is mainly about how we see ourselves. Speaking from my experience, when I started doing stand-up comedy, many people bashed me online, because I am a woman. It would be great for women to rise above those stereotypes and not bother about the distraction or the narrative that they are women,” she added.
