ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah has praised the outgoing administration of Mr. Pedro Nwankwo of Awgu Local Government Area of the state for his successfully executed projects.
Governor Mbah, commended the consistency and commitment of the chairman towards improving the living standard of the people.
He urged residents and beneficiaries of the council area to make good use of the infrastructure for the service of the community.
Mbah, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, said the projects executed by the council chairman showed his determination to transition the local government from analog to Information and Communication Technology, ICT.
“You have shown consistently your commitment to the development of your council, and in a world that is gradually transiting from analog to ICT, the investment of the council into ICT can only be for the benefit of the people,” he said.

He further noted that his administration would continue to provide the needed infrastructure that would trigger development and create employment for the teeming youths.
According to him, the right policies had already been activated to move the economy of the state from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, eradicate poverty, empower citizens and make Enugu attractive to investors.
Noting that the government was deliberate about robust and sound education that would enhance the skills of the young population and make them globally competitive, the Governor assured that the ongoing smart schools with the best infrastructure that could be found anywhere in the world are free for students.
Giving his stewardship, Mr Nwankwo appreciated Governor Mbah’s administration for the support the local government enjoyed throughout his tenure, saying his team was able to succeed in the areas of education, infrastructure, health, youth empowerment, security and other critical sectors because of the enabling environment created by his government.
He stated that the council was able to asphalt 1.8 kilometre Onoli-Obuobia- road, construct a modern lodge named after the governor, complete Governor Peter Mbah ICT/Administrative Block, expand Olie Awgu market to a modern market, renovate a number of healthcare centres, invest in commercial farming, and ensure the security of the area because of the cooperation of the people of the area.
“I want to thank Governor Mbah and the good people of Awgu local government for their support and for standing with us throughout our stay in office. We couldn’t have achieved this much without the governor’s support.
“We are glad that we were able to write our name among the local governments that gave their people good governance and delivered on promises made,” he added.
