OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – According to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMET, the current weather conditions experienced in the country will remain for a while.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the agency revealed that air temperature all over the country had hit 41°c over the North and 39°c over the South with model projections indicating temperatures to remain high in the coming days.
As a result of the heat wave, NiMet warned that some worrisome health implications would arise.
According to the agency, dehydration is a complication that can arise from the heat wave, which consequently can cause “fainting; chickenpox disease, measles, heat rash, weakness of the body, slight fever, and dry lips; heat-related illnesses; respiratory issues; and increased vulnerability to chronic conditions.”

A medical expert, Dr Kayode Adesola also added that Nigerians are at risk of suffering from bladder stones due to dehydration and heat stroke.
