LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Kano State Police Command has affirmed its readiness to ensure the safety of Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, during his visit to the state.
Commissioner Hussaini Gumel of the Command conveyed this assurance while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Gumel, addressing NAN in Kano, stated, “We have mobilised sufficient armed personnel to provide security cover for our Senate President before, during, and after the visit. We will not tolerate any act capable of breaching the security in the state.”
“We have deployed sufficient personnel to provide security at all roads and intersections leading to the institution (Bayero University, Kano) from Malam Aminu International Airport and all other land terminus,” Gumel added.
The Commissioner emphasized the collaboration with other security agencies to ensure a smooth and secure visit, acknowledging the impossibility of solely securing the Senate President.
During the visit, Akpabio is scheduled to attend the 38th convocation of Bayero University and witness the conferral of an honorary doctorate degree upon the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.
Furthermore, the President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina, will be recognized with a similar award, highlighting their contributions to the university.
Renowned Nigerian businessman and Entrepreneur, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is set to deliver the graduation lecture on “The Role of Private Sector in Building a Sustainable Economy in Nigeria.”
