LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – At the 2024 MOBO Awards, Asake won the Best African act after fending off competition from other Nigerian superstars including Adekunle Gold, Davido, Rema, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Rema.
Also in the category were South African Tyla, Cameroonian-American Libianca, and eSwatini artist Uncle Waffles.
Alongside Asake, Afro-gospel sensation Limoblaze also brought glory to Nigeria by clinching the Best Gospel Act award, showcasing the country’s diverse musical talent on the global stage.
MOBO Awards ceremony is an annual British presentation honouring achievements in “music of black origin”.
The 26th edition was held on Wednesday at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena, UK.
The event was hosted by Indiyah Polack, the TV personality, and Babatunde Aléshé, the stand-up comedian.

The win for Asake comes a few days after he lost the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category at this year’s Grammy Awards to Tyla.
