ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- An abducted baby, allegedly sold by a maid for N800,000, has been successfully rescued by the police in the Shomolu area of Lagos State.
The distressing situation came to light when an X user, #Dannysleek, shared the alarming news on Saturday, revealing that a maid hired through an agency had disappeared with the baby.
The maid, identified as Ruth Okezie from Anambra State, reportedly fled the home in Shomolu at 2 am on Saturday.
After the news gained traction on social media, the maid was located in Ikorodu without the baby, confessing to having sold the child for N800,000.

On Monday morning, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the rescue of the baby. According to Hundeyin, due to the relentless efforts of the police, the buyer abandoned the baby in Alade Market, Shomolu.
The police promptly rescued the child, who was subsequently identified by her parents.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the buyer, who is currently evading the authorities. #Dannysleek also shared the positive outcome on his X handle, expressing gratitude to the Twitter community for their support and retweets.
