ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped an undisclosed number of school children in Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The incident involved students from Apostolic Faith School who were allegedly abducted on Monday while traveling from Emure Ekiti to Eporo Ekiti on their school bus.
According to Ekititrends, the gunmen abducted six pupils, three teachers, and the bus driver of the private school during their return from Eporo-Ekiti on Monday night.
In response to the incident, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, assured the citizens that efforts are underway to rescue the abducted children and teachers.
The Governor however, condemned the kidnap as callous and unacceptable, emphasizing that no stone would be left unturned in the efforts to secure their release.
The Ekiti Government stated that security agencies in the state are actively pursuing the abductors with the aim of bringing the pupils and their teachers back safely.

The Governor hinted onw the stepping up of security measures across the state to flush out criminal elements.
Governor Oyebanji called for calm and vigilance from the citizens, urging cooperation with security agencies by providing relevant information.
He pledged a swift and comprehensive rescue operation to ensure the safe return of the abducted children.
In a related development, earlier on Monday, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers killed two Ekiti State monarchs on the Ipao-Oke Ako Road.
The Onimojo of Imojo and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti were fatally attacked while returning from a meeting in Kogi State. The Alara of Ara Ekiti escaped the incident.
Law enforcement agencies, including the police and relevant security forces, have been mobilized to address both incidents promptly.
The Ekiti State Government is actively working to ensure the safety of its citizens and combat criminal activities in the region.
