OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- At the London ceremony on Monday, the attacker was named the world’s best men’s player for the year 2023, defeating two other superstars in the process. As of right now, he has received more awards than any other player, having received recognition in 2019, 2022, and 2023.
FIFA has named the Argentine player of the year after he won his eighth Ballon d’Or in 2023, which came after a FIFA World Cup in 2022. The Major League Soccer player has won the award three times in his career and is the first player to do so while competing in the league.

Messi, along with both Mbappe and Haaland, did not attend the ceremony. The Argentine stayed in Miami, training with the Herons for their first preseason game of the 2024 campaign on Friday against the El Salvador national team.
The Herons will officially return to action on February 21 against Real Salt Lake to kick off the 2024 MLS season, which is rapidly approaching. There are numerous friendlies scheduled until then, one of which is a matchup with Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr on February 1.
