ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Emeka Anyaoku, former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to take decisive action in prosecuting individuals responsible for crimes across the nation to stem the rising tide of killings.
This call came following the Christmas Eve attacks on communities in three local government areas of Plateau State.
During the Merchants of Light School’s Old Boys’ Association Worldwide summit, held in Anambra State, Anyaoku emphasized the need for the government to deploy military forces to apprehend and punish those behind the attacks, stressing that accountability is crucial in deterring further violence.

Anyaoku stated, “The Federal Government of Nigeria should devote efforts to find those responsible for these killings.
“What’s particularly depressing is that these killings occur and nobody seems to be held responsible and charged accordingly.
“The first thing the government should do is to deploy its agencies and forces to apprehend those perpetuating the killings because that’s the only way to address the problem.
“If they’re apprehended, prosecuted and punished, that would serve as a deterrent to others to continue the killings.”
