ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Four healthcare workers in the UK have been sentenced to prison after a disturbing incident of physical and emotional abuse against an elderly patient, as reported by The BBC on Thursday.
Ame Tunkara and Morountaro Adefila were found guilty of ill-treatment and wilful neglect, receiving four months in prison during their sentencing on 8 December.
Danny Ohen and Bridget Aideyan faced the same charges and were sentenced to six months and four months, respectively, on 14 November.

Police revealed that the workers were caught on camera mistreating an 89-year-old woman with vascular dementia, unable to speak. The family, alarmed by bruising on the woman’s arm, discreetly installed a camera in February 2020, capturing footage over four days.
The recorded footage depicted the elderly woman being handled roughly, struck with a pillow, and subjected to a lack of dignity and respect.
Sadly, the woman passed away in October, prompting a police official to state that “she should not have spent any of her remaining years suffering such ill-treatment.”
