LAGOS, Nigeria( VOICE OF NAIJA) – American actor, Andre Braugher, who starred as Captain Raymond Holt in the hit comedy ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, has died at the age of 61.
Braugher, who also featured as Detective Frank Pembleton in the movie ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’, died on Monday after a brief illness.
Details as to which sickness caused his death are yet to be known.
In his tribute, Terry Crews, who played Terry Jeffords in ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, described Braugher as an “irreplaceable talent”.
“I’m honoured to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared eight glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent,” Crews wrote on instagram.

“This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you. Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship.
“You showed me what a life well lived looks like.”
Braugher was born in 1962 in Chicago as the youngest of four children. He studied theatre on a Stanford scholarship before attending the Juilliard School for drama.
He gained fame in Hollywood after his role in 1989’s ‘Glory’.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
