LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Following a knee surgery due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus sustained during a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay, Neymar faces an extensive rehabilitation process, as confirmed by Brazil’s national team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar.
While the star player is recovering well, Lasmar highlighted the intricate nature of Neymar’s injury, necessitating a prolonged rehabilitation period.
Neymar’s history of previous foot and ankle injuries has further complicated his current situation.
Lasmar noted that despite the Brazilian undergoing two prior surgeries, this recent operation is the most severe, demanding a more cautious approach during recovery.

Providing an update on Neymar’s progress, Lasmar stated, “Neymar’s recovery is progressing well, although he remains in the early stages.
“The injury is complex, involving ligament rupture, requiring an extended period of off-feet recovery due to associated injuries.
“Neymar is fully aware of this. He’s responding positively to treatment, which is encouraging for us.”
Highlighting the gravity of the injury, Lasmar emphasized the need for Neymar’s utmost focus and dedication to recovery.
Although unlikely to play for the rest of the season, there’s hope for a full recovery before the Copa America 2024, scheduled between 20 June and 14 July in the U.S.
