LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – In a move by Meta and its prominent social media platform, WhatsApp, a new feature is being introduced.
WhatsApp is now allowing users to log in using their email ID as a supplementary option for SMS verification.
The feature, known as ‘Email Verification,‘ is available on the beta version of WhatsApp for both Android and iOS, accessible under ‘Account Settings.’

This feature is particularly beneficial for users facing challenges with SMS verification, such as those in areas with poor network connections or those who prefer not to switch SIM cards.
While initially limited in availability, WhatsApp is gradually expanding access to more beta testers, with wider release plans in the pipeline.
This innovation adds to WhatsApp’s ongoing experiments with features like YouTube-style video controls, voice note and sticker sharing in Channels, multi-account support, and more.
The email verification method is expected to cater to both Android and iOS users, promising improved accessibility for a broader audience.
