LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Instagram, the social media platform owned by Meta, is launching a feature that enables users to incorporate song lyrics into their reels, akin to the functionality available on Instagram Stories.
This move follows Instagram’s recent testing of various features focused on enhancing the user experience.
While some features aimed to revamp how feeds are viewed and encourage collaborative posting, the addition of song lyrics to Instagram Reels is a familiar concept for users, having been accessible on Instagram Stories for some time.
Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, announced this update on his Broadcast Channel.
He acknowledged that users often manually added song lyrics to their videos and expressed hope that this feature would facilitate self-expression.

Furthermore, he disclosed that the company is actively developing more features for Reels.
To include song lyrics in an Instagram Reel, users need to tap the music icon while in the editing process.
After selecting a song, they can swipe left to insert the lyrics, a process similar to the Music feature on Instagram Stories, which has allowed song lyrics to be added to Stories for some time.
Recently, Mosseri also mentioned that Instagram is testing a feature enabling users to invite friends to contribute to their feed posts, resulting in collaborative carousel posts.
This new feature permits users to extend invitations, after which recipients can choose to ‘Add to post‘ by including additional images.
Another development involves users potentially being able to view posts solely from verified individuals.
Instagram is actively testing this option, offering users three choices: a feed from those they follow, one from their favorites, and another exclusively featuring content from Meta Verified users.
This may prove beneficial for businesses and creators looking to increase their visibility.
In recent news, Instagram, in conjunction with Facebook, announced ad-free subscription plans for users in the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland.
These subscription options allow users to enjoy an ad-free experience on the web, iOS, and Android platforms for a monthly fee of EUR 9.99 for web access and EUR 12.99 for mobile access.
