ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a heartbreaking incident, a final-year student from the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun, Delta State, met his fatal end while trying to install solar panels on a one-story building.
The unfortunate event took place near a commercial bank in the Warri Garage Area on Thursday, 19 October, 2023.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke with journalists, said that the aluminium ladder used by the student in climbing up to the position he intended to install the solar panels was magnetised by the high-tension wires linking a neighbouring commercial bank.

However, prompt action from a courageous passerby averted further disaster. Using a long, dry plank, this Good Samaritan managed to detach the aluminum ladder from the dangerous high-tension wires, freeing the unconscious young man.
The PTI final-year student, who was actively working on his final year project when the incident occurred, was swiftly taken to a nearby private clinic for medical attention. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the clinic.
The late student, who resided with his parents on Bowen Avenue, has now been laid to rest in his home state in the South-East on Saturday, 28 October, 2023, leaving a community in mourning.
