LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Arsenal’s return to the Champions League after six years is a significant moment, with Jorginho sharing his thoughts on the importance of the competition’s iconic anthem.
Last season, Arsenal secured their place in the Premier League’s top four after a title-challenging campaign, earning them a spot on the grand European stage after a lengthy absence.
In a recent match against PSV, players like Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard, and Bukayo Saka couldn’t hide their smiles as they heard the familiar “the Champiooooooons” anthem ringing out around the Emirates Stadium.
Jorginho explained why this anthem still holds a special place in the hearts of experienced international players.
“It’s iconic, it’s so remarkable. It was stuck in our heads when we were kids, so you just kind of go back to your childhood when you listen to it.

“It seems so far away when you’re a kid to play in, and that’s why I think it’s really special,” Jorginho shared.
“He reminisced about watching Champions League games as a young boy in Brazil, witnessing teams like Barcelona, Milan, and Arsenal, with the unforgettable music that accompanies the competition.
“It’s a competition the whole world stops to watch, so to be here now, we are living our dreams. It’s always amazing to see, and I’m really pleased that I was there with them.”
Jorginho, who has previously played in the Champions League with Napoli and Chelsea, experienced the ultimate success with Chelsea in 2021 when they lifted the trophy.
Reflecting on that achievement, he stated, “When you hold that trophy, so, so many things are going through your head.
“It’s impossible to explain, it’s just an amazing feeling. That’s living your actual dream, going back to when you were a child and watching your idols playing and winning.”
Arsenal is set to continue their European campaign with a match against Sevilla on Tuesday.
They will be looking to bounce back from a surprising 2-1 defeat to Lens in their last Group B fixture, following an impressive 4-0 victory over PSV in their opening quest for continental glory.
