ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has shared his perspective on the upcoming meeting between Ohanaeze Ndigbo and President Bola Tinubu, concerning the ongoing detention of the secessionist leader.
Ejimakor emphasized that Ohanaeze should consider that Nnamdi Kanu might have been a free man if the Nigerian government had adhered to court orders.
In his post on X, the lawyer urged Ohanaeze to recognize Kanu as a victim rather than a villain in this complex situation.

Ohanaeze President, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, recently revealed the organization’s intentions to meet with President Tinubu to discuss various issues affecting the South East geopolitical zone.
This announcement was made during a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Supreme Council of Nigeria Traditional Rulers, Southeast chapter, led by HRM Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna of Abia State.
Iwuanyanwu explained that the push for Nnamdi Kanu’s release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) has become imperative due to the deteriorating security situation in the region.
He expressed concern that certain individuals exploit Kanu’s name and his detention to commit crimes in the area, emphasizing that they are motivated by personal interests.
Reacting, Ejimakor posted: “In meeting with Tinubu, Ohaneze should be strictly guided by the fact that MAZI NNAMDI KANU would not be in detention if Nigeria abided by the law in not subjecting him to extraordinary rendition; or complied with the court orders to release him. He’s the victim, not the villain.”
