LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has appealed for forgiveness from Arsenal fans regarding his infamous celebration after scoring against them for Manchester City in 2009.
Adebayor, who retired from professional football in March, expressed his desire for fans to move past the incident when he ran the length of the pitch to celebrate, which led to a fine and a suspended ban.

He hopes that supporters can now “laugh it off and move on,” emphasizing the emotions surrounding family insults during the match.
During his time at Arsenal, Adebayor scored 62 goals in 142 matches before moving to Manchester City in 2009, followed by loan spells with Real Madrid and Tottenham.
He admits that he wanted Arsenal to win the Premier League title last season.
