LAGOS, Nigeria (VOCIE OF NAIJA) Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter) and CEO of several companies, is now confronted with a new defamation lawsuit.
The legal action alleges that Musk falsely accused a recent college graduate from California of being an undercover federal agent associated with a neo-Nazi group in the Pacific Northwest.
During an LGBTQ pride event in Oregon, members of the Rose City Nationalists, their masks were removed during a scuffle.
Some X users mistakenly identified one of the men involved as Benjamin Brody, a 22-year-old who was part of a Jewish fraternity and had previously expressed interest in a government job on the fraternity’s website.
Musk amplified these false claims on X, referring to the incident and Brody’s alleged involvement as a “probably false flag situation.”

Musk’s significant presence on the platform led to a wave of hate directed towards Brody.
According to the lawsuit, Brody and his family were subjected to repeated doxing and faced extensive harassment from strangers.
“Two weeks after Musk’s statements, it was clear to Ben that his reputation had been severely tarnished, and a large number of people believed he was either a neo-Nazi or involved in a deceptive ‘psyop’ to commit political terrorism,” the lawsuit states.
This isn’t the first time Musk has been sued for defamation due to his careless and provocative statements.
In 2018, British cave diver Vernon Unsworth sued Musk for calling him a “pedo guy” during a dispute related to the rescue of children trapped in a cave in Thailand. Musk eventually won the case in 2019.
The lawsuit is led by Mark Bankston, the same lawyer who famously took Alex Jones to court for spreading Sandy Hook conspiracies.
Jones lost several defamation cases and was ultimately ordered to pay over a billion dollars in damages to the surviving families of Sandy Hook victims.
“Today, I am proud to announce I have filed suit against yet another notorious disseminator of false information: The owner of this platform, Elon Musk,”
Bankston wrote in a lengthy thread on X. “Musk will not stop until someone stops him. It seems that responsibility now falls upon a shy 22-year-old whose life has been shaken by Musk’s reckless conduct.”
