LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Covenant University, the University of Ibadan, and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, have achieved top rankings in Nigeria, according to Times Higher Education’s 2024 rating.
In the rankings, Covenant University leads the rankings in Nigeria, among the top 1,000 universities globally, falling within the range of 801-1000 worldwide.
The University of Ibadan closely follows in second place and FUTA third place.

The University of Lagos and the University of Bayero secured the fourth and fifth positions in Nigeria, respectively.
Other Nigerian universities with top rankings include the University of Ilorin, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Afe Babalola University, University of Benin, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Lagos State University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Obafemi Awolowo University, and the University of Port Harcourt.
The World University ranking assessed 1,904 universities in 108 countries and regions as per the Ranking Web’s new WUR 3.0 methodology.
This methodology evaluates an institution’s performance across five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook.
