LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), has intercepted eight barges smuggling over 100,000 litres of adulterated diesel in Rivers State.
This was disclosed by the Commander, Joint Task Force, South-South, OPDS, Admiral Olusegun Ferreira, while addressing journalists in the State.

The commander explained that the vessels containing adulterated diesel were impounded by security forces during a stop-and-search operation across several creeks.
Commodore Ferreira, who was represented by OPDS Maritime Component Commander, said the seizure was part of efforts to end the theft of crude oil and criminality in the Niger Delta “as part of the directives given to OPDS by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa.”
He further disclosed that the impounded barges cumulatively had over 100,000 litres of diesel stored inside different compartments.
