Again, Troops Rescue Six, Recover 11 Motorcycles From Bandits In Zamfara

LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Troops of Operation Haderin Daji, a component of the military troops, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered 11 operational motorcycles from bandits operating in State Zamfara.

According to a statement on Wednesday, by the Assistant Director, in Gusau Army Public Relations, Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the troops have continued to intensify operations against the bandits in the Northwest zone of Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto, respectively.

ā€œActing on actionable intelligence report on 5 August, troops of the OPHD deployed at Forward Operating Base, FOB Zurmi immediately mobilized for a fighting patrol to the general area to dislodge the bandits, during which contact was made with the criminals, but due to troops’ superior firepower, the bandits fled with possible gunshots wounds.

ā€œAfter the encounter, eleven operational motorcycles were captured from the fleeing banditsā€, the statement added.

ā€œSimilarly, troops deployed at Forward Operating Base, FOB, Anka in the State rescued four kidnapped victims.

ā€œThis was achieved following credible intelligence from locals that several persons were kidnapped at Gangamai village in Gwashi district of Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the State.

ā€œThe troops immediately mobilized for a rescue mission to the village and made contact with the bandits. The troops’ tactical abilities and fire superiority forced the bandits to flee and abandon their captives.

ā€œAlso troops of FOB Bini while on patrol rescued two kidnapped victims who were abandoned by marauding bandits and fled on sighting troops,ā€ he said.

The Army spokesman said that all the rescued victims were successfully reunited with their families.

He also called on the people of the region to be very vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious movement or persons to the security agencies.
