LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have abducted Chief Abdulkerim Aliyu, the district head of Ofugo, the Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The suspected kidnappers who reportedly invaded Aliyuās palace and whisked him away, have demanded the sum of N5m ransom, Tribune reports.
According to Eyewitnesses, the kidnappers came to the district headās house, disguised as Police officers from Kogi State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, Lokoja, and took him away in his Lexus Jeep for an undisclosed interview at their headquarters.

A resident of the district, Danladi Jibo, was quoted as saying, āHis Lexus jeep was seen parked around Ikanekpo, a village before Opulega on Anyigba ā Ankpa road.
āThat was when it dawned on us that the district head was kidnapped and not under arrest.
āHis kidnappers have put a call to the members of his family, demanding N5 million ransom.ā
However, as at the time of filing this report, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, is yet to make an official confirmation of Aliyuās abduction.
