LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Jordi Alba’s recent move to Inter Miami in the United States has led to his decision to step away from his international football career.
Alba completed his transfer to Inter Miami in July. He had previously secured victory for Spain in the 2012 European Championship. His international career spanned over 12 years.
As per a recent report from Marca, Alba has acknowledged that his move to Major League Soccer (MLS) marks a point where he’s content to conclude his international journey with Spain.

The divergence in scheduling between playing in Europe and MLS, along with the demanding travel requirements placed on the 34-year-old, have contributed to this decision.
While this decision is regrettable, it’s one that Alba has communicated to the Spanish Football Federation.
The former Barcelona player can exit the international stage with the honor of achieving victory in the 2012 European Championship and this year’s UEFA Nations League with his national team. Throughout his career, Alba amassed a total of 93 caps for Spain and scored 10 goals.
With the MLS regular season in progress once again after the conclusion of the inaugural League Cup, Alba’s team, The Herons, are set to return to action on Wednesday evening as they face Nashville SC.
