ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Samuel Ortom, the immediate past Governor of Benue State, has urged his supporters attacking Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration to remain calm.
It would be recalled that the present administration had accused Ortom and others who worked with him of looting the state’s resources.
The erstwhile Governor was on 21 June, 2023 invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over the allegations.
Similarly, some properties belonging to the State government were allegedly recovered from the former Governor.

Angered by what they termed as harassment, Ortom’s supporters have continued to make derogatory statements against the incumbent Governor and his team.
But Ortom, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Terver Akase, urged the supporters to remain calm. He added that they should not heat up the polity.
Ortom said that he is capable of responding to the issues raised against him and other officials of the previous government and has always made known his belief in the rule of law.
He reiterated his readiness to make himself available to respond to issues bordering on his administration whenever the need arises.
