ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The South-East Governors forum has unequivocally denounced the instigators of insecurity within the region.
The Governors also claimed that those responsible for the turmoil and their patrons must be recognized as criminals rather than legitimate activists.
This declaration was made by Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the forum, during a meeting convened at the Lion Building, Government House in Enugu.
Uzodinma expressed his gratitude towards the security agencies for their collaborative efforts in tackling the ongoing challenges and urged them to persist in their commitment.
He emphasized that individuals or groups found guilty of criminal activities should be subject to the full extent of legal consequences as prescribed by the nation’s laws.
In a unanimous show of determination, the forum resolved to confront the issue of insecurity head-on within their respective states and collectively in cooperation with the Federal Government of Nigeria and other stakeholders.

This is as their commitment to safeguarding the region from threats and instability remains resolute.
To foster a comprehensive strategy encompassing security and economic considerations, the South East Governors forum announced its intention to convene a security and economic summit.
They said that the specific date for this crucial summit will be disclosed in due course, indicating the forum’s proactive approach to addressing the multifaceted challenges facing the region.
Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State, who chaired the gathering; Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State; Dr. Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State; Francis Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State; and Dr. Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, who hosted the event were the State heads who were at the meeting.
With a collective determination to counter insurgency and strengthen security measures, the South East Governors forum demonstrated a united front and a shared commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the region’s residents.
