ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for candidates from eight States have been withheld by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The withdrawal was due to outstanding payments for various services.
According to the council, the non-payment for services rendered has presented a significant hurdle in the operations of the examination body.
At a press conference held on Monday at the WAEC National Office in Yaba, the council disclosed this to journalists.
Responding to a question on the states owing WAEC, the National Officer of WAEC, Mr. Patrick Areghan noted that “About eight states are owing WAEC. We won’t mention them all as some are going to pay.
“However, Zamfara and Niger are the highest debtors. Again Zamfara did not present any candidate for this year’s WASSCE.”
