LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Snapchat unveiled a brand-new incentives scheme for India-based Snap AR producers.
The ‘Lens Creator Rewards’ program will compensate Indian producers who utilize the Snap AR platform to produce filters and other augmented reality (AR) experiences that are then made available to Snapchat’s customers worldwide.
In recent months, Snapchat has been actively rolling out new features and engagement techniques. In the third quarter of 2023, the business aims to generate revenues of about $1.13 billion (approximately Rs. 9,264 crore).
If their lens performs well in India, Mexico, and the US, an Indian Lens designer might receive incentives of up to $7,200 (approximately Rs. 6 lakh) each month under the scheme.
All members of the Lens Studio community, including those from India and almost 40 other countries, are eligible for the rewards program.

Snapchat stated that it continues to witness a “remarkable emergence of AR creators from various parts of the country” when announcing this project in India.
“Snapchatters love Lenses built by our global AR community of more than 300,000 AR creators, developers, and teams around the world.
“We’re committed to rewarding the value that AR creators bring to the platform through the new Lens Creator Rewards Program,” Joseph Darko, Global Head of AR Developer Relations at Snap Inc, said in an official press release.
In September 2011, Snapchat became live for users may exchange text and image material using the app, but it would vanish after 24 hours. Later, the platform increased its functionality by adding audio and video calling.
The site debuted its Lenses feature in January 2015, which offered users the chance to test on various filters. With this program, Snapchat hopes to reward those who produce popular filters.
Snapchat’s decision to launch this rewards program in India is not entirely unexpected given that it was first introduced in other countries.

Darko previously revealed to Gadgets 360 in March that Snap’s Indian AR creative community will grow by 60% in 2022.
This group is made up of individuals who frequently use Lens Studio, a free desktop program offered by Snap that enables creatives, designers, and developers to create augmented reality (AR) experiences.
While everything was going on, Snapchat’s revenue for the three months that ended on June 30 came in at $1.07 billion (approximately Rs. 8,769 crore), above analyst projections of $1.05 billion (about Rs. 8,608 crore).
Daily active users of the app increased by 14% year over year to 397 million in the second quarter.
