ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – In response to the increasing incidents of looting in Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has declared a 24-hour curfew to restore order and ensure the safety of residents.
The decision, announced on Sunday, came after hoodlums broke into warehouses, ransacking foodstuffs and valuable items.
Governor Fintiri stated on his verified Twitter handle that the curfew was a precautionary measure to prevent further violence by these lawless elements, who have been attacking both individuals and businesses.
The Central stores located at Barkin Kogi and Kwana-waya had previously experienced looting in 2020, with angry residents seizing government-owned supplies.
With immediate effect on Sunday, 30 July, 2023, the 24-hour curfew will be in effect, allowing only essential duties with valid identification.
Governor Fintiri emphasized that the safety and well-being of all residents are of utmost importance, urging everyone to comply with the curfew for the sake of maintaining peace and security.
