As part of their summer spending spree, Arsenal spent £65 million ($84 million) to acquire the Germany international from Chelsea.
The aggressive midfielder made an impression when playing for the Blues, scoring against Manchester City in the Champions League final. However, this is not a good start for him.
As part of their preseason tour of the United States, Arsenal will play the MLS All-Stars on Thursday. Before the end of the month, they are scheduled to play Barcelona and Manchester United.
