LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson turned down the opportunity to travel to Saudi Arabia to play with Reds great Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq.
Despite Gerrard’s pursuit of the Liverpool captain following his Ettifaq appointment, CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Henderson has turned down the offer because he is concerned that doing so will hurt his chances of being selected for England at Euro 2024.

The 33-year-old played 43 times in all competitions last season and is still a crucial component of the Liverpool team. He is under contract with the Reds through 2025.
Since Henderson and Gerrard played together 142 times for both Liverpool and England, it is likely that the club would target more players from the Premier League now that Gerrard is on board.
Henderson will take part in Liverpool’s preseason as they try to forget about missing out on Champions League football in 2022–23.
