LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-A new privacy-focused feature for community members is apparently being introduced by WhatsApp.
Users might conceal their phone numbers while joining a community thanks to the new technology, which was previously said to be under testing.
All beta testers for Android and iOS are apparently able to access the “phone number privacy” feature.
By obscuring their names and phone numbers from other community members, users can engage in chats and respond to messages.
The instant messaging service owned by Meta hasn’t formally stated when it plans to make the phone number privacy feature available to all customers.

According to WABetainfo, a tracker of WhatsApp features, WhatsApp has made a phone number privacy option for communities available to all Android and iOS beta testers.
The WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.14.19 and iOS 23.14.0.70 beta versions for iOS, respectively, are stated to be accessible to all Android and iOS beta testers.
When a person joins a community, this feature allows them to hide their phone number from all other members.
The community participants list is now concealed in the community announcement group, but if a user reacts to messages, their phone number will be made public.
Even when you post reactions to a message, the new phone number privacy feature will make sure that your contact information is hidden from other Community members.
In order to provide consumers a preview of what it would look like when it begins to be extensively implemented, the study also offers a screenshot of the phone number privacy option for communities.

You can get to it by visiting the ‘Community announcement group info’. WhatsApp warns users who enable this option that their number will remain private from other users outside the community admin and the members who have already saved their contact information.
The community admin’s phone number is always exposed, therefore this new privacy feature only applies to community members.
Additionally, users will have the choice to share it later with particular community members of their choice.
WhatsApp hasn’t formally announced the launch of the phone number privacy function yet, though.
Before the official release, it can change. You may download the most recent version of WhatsApp from Google Play, the Apple Store, or the TestFlight app if you’re curious to try out the new security feature.
