Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has promised to introduce free shuttle rides and reduce the working days for civil servants in the workforce, in order to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
Adeleke made the pledge on Friday, at stakeholders meeting with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osogbo.
“We (Osun Government) will soon introduce public transport buses. We are working on adjusted work hours and days,” he said.
He added that his administration was working to make life easy and enjoyable for the people of Osun.
On 29 May, President Bola Tinubu declared that there would no longer be a petroleum subsidy regime, saying that it was not sustainable.

“We commend the decision of the outgoing administration in phasing out the petrol subsidy regime, which has increasingly favoured the rich more than the poor. Subsidy can no longer justify its ever-increasing costs in the wake of drying resources,” Mr. Tinubu said at his inaugural address at Eagle Square, Abuja.
He said, instead, his government would re-channel the funds into better investment in public infrastructure, education, healthcare and jobs that would materially improve the lives of millions.
Since Tinubu announced the removal of the fuel subsidy, lots of Nigerians have been adjusting their lifestyles to meet the current economic realities.
The situation has also paralysed small-scale businesses, with petrol prices outrageously jumping from N194 to over N500 per litre.
Reacting to the report, a tweep @EmperorFreezie said: “ONDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! @YemieFash are we cartoons? E ba wa ke gbajare nau.”
